Acumatica Backorder Visibility Solution

This video explains how to enhance visibility of backordered items in Acumatica’s packaging slips for improved order tracking and fulfillment. 

Challenges

  • Inability to create shipments for items with zero available quantity: The current Acumatica functionality prevents shipment creation when an item’s available quantity is zero.
  • Lack of visibility for backordered items on packaging slips: This limitation makes it challenging for clients to track items with zero available quantity for shipping, leading to confusion and difficulties in monitoring order fulfillment.

Solution and Benefits

To address these challenges, the video proposes a two-step solution: 

1) Enable ‘Add Zero Lines’ and ‘Create Zero Shipment’ Options: 

  • Navigate to the Sales Order Preferences screen and locate the Shipping Settings section. 
  • Enable the “Add Zero Lines for Items Not in Stock“ option. This step is a prerequisite for enabling the subsequent option.
  • Enable the “Create Zero Shipment“ option to allow the creation of shipments even when the available quantity for an item is zero. 

2) Enable ‘Allow Negative Quantity’ in Item Class Settings: 

  • Access the Item Class settings. 
  • Enable the “Allow Negative Quantity“ checkbox. This setting ensures that items with zero available quantity for shipment are displayed on the packaging slip.
