Streamlining Label Printing for Discrete Items in Acumatica

This video offers a practical solution for businesses facing challenges with printing labels for individual items within Acumatica, particularly those dealing with lot-based inventory.

Challenges: Inaccurate Label Printing for Lot-Based Items

  • Scenario: A baking company receives packaged sugar in bulk quantities, with each bag requiring an individual label.
  • Problem: The current Acumatica setup prints labels based on lot numbers, not individual item quantities. For example, if a lot contains four bags, only one label is printed for the entire lot instead of four individual labels.
     

Solution: Leveraging the Date Info Tag for Sequential Numbering

To resolve this issue, we implemented a solution using Acumatica’s existing features:
 
  • Utilizing the “Date Info” Data Tag: Acumatica contains a sequential list of dates within the “Date Info” tag.
  • Custom Calculation for Sequential Numbering: We created a custom calculation to determine the difference in days between a fixed past date (e.g., December 31, 1969) and the dates in the “Date Info” tag. This generates a sequential series of numbers (1, 2, 3, etc.).
  • Linking Sequential Numbers to Item Quantity: This numbering system is linked to the quantity of items in each lot, ensuring that the label for each lot is printed the correct number of times, corresponding to the number of individual items.
